Justin Ahinon
I'm Justin Ahinon. I'm a solo Svelte and SvelteKit developer, based between Cotonou, Nairobi, and Cape Town. I run Okupter, a one-person studio shipping apps in two-week sprints.
Before Svelte, I spent four years on WordPress Core (sponsored by Yoast), led its Performance team, and ran the migration of its end-to-end tests to Playwright. I co-founded AfricArXiv, the first open preprint repository for African scholarship, and I'm still its technical advisor.
Since 2022 it's been all Svelte. I was the main engineer on Updraft, Cyfrin's Web3 education platform (~100K monthly users), then a senior engineer at Fabric Blockchain Labs building real-time DeFi trading.
Now I'm back on Okupter full-time, between client sprints and my own products — WhatIsThatMovie, WhatIsThatBook, and a dozen others. More on what I'm working on right now.
Archives
Between October 2019 and December 2020, I kept a daily online journal on my blog, the #DailyNotes. I shared my days, what I was learning, my fears, and my thoughts on topics that interested me.
Those were both in English and in French depending on the day.
Here are a few posts from that time.
